Welcome to Odense – Fairy Tale Capital of Denmark
Hans Christian Andersen
Odense is Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown, and this is evident everywhere in town. We have Hans Christian Andersen museums, lots of fairy tale inspired sculptures and a sightseeing route marked with footprints to guide you through our city. All summer, you can experience – for free – the Hans Christian Andersen Parade perform in Eventyrhaven (The Fairy Tale Garden) – or you can sail with Odense Åfart and experience “Fairy Tales on the River”.
For families with children, we recommend a visit to the Children’s Cultural House – The Tinderbox, where time flies.
Other exciting experiences in Odense
Odense offers a variety of exciting attractions. The Danish Railway Museum, our beautiful city museum Mønstergården, Odense ZOO, or the Brandt’s area and Tidens Samling – a museum of everyday life in the 20th century. These places are only a few of many places we recommend. The culinary delights of Odense are developing rapidly, and we have a variety of restaurants with dishes in all price ranges.
Odense has also got two street food areas – at Storms Pakhus (Storm’s Warehouse), close by the harbour, and Arkaden, downtown.
Something is happening all year in Odense. We have lots of events – big as well as small, locale as well as international. On our website, www.visitodense.com, you can see a list of all the large annual events.
